About me
I’m Yevhenii Andrieiev — a trauma-informed somatic coach. I trained as a psychologist and trauma therapist in Ukraine, and my work is grounded in psychodynamic thinking and EMDR. What’s always at the centre for me isn’t a technique, though — it’s the person: how the past keeps living in someone now, and what makes real change possible.
Why this work
What drew me to this work is a sense that a lot of human suffering is misunderstood — by the people living it, and often by the systems meant to help.
Many of the people I work with have spent years believing something is wrong with them. They read anxiety, numbness, perfectionism, people-pleasing, burnout, or self-criticism as personal failures. More often I see something else: intelligent adaptations to experiences that once called for survival.
What interests me most is the gap between understanding and change. Someone can explain exactly why they react the way they do, where it comes from, and what they’d like to do differently — and still feel stuck. Most of my interest lives in that gap.
I don’t think lasting change comes from advice, positive thinking, or insight alone. It tends to happen when experience that was carried in isolation, shame, or survival mode can be lived through and felt differently in the present. When a nervous system no longer has to organise around old threats, people often regain access to what was there all along: spontaneity, closeness, self-trust, grief, anger, the ability to choose.
I’m especially drawn to working with people who look highly functional from the outside while carrying a heavy load underneath — capable, responsible, looking after everyone around them, and privately dealing with exhaustion, loneliness, or a sense of disconnection.
This work stays meaningful to me because I keep seeing something that first looks almost impossible: a person becoming less governed by patterns that once felt automatic — not by forcing themselves to change, but by building a different relationship with experience that stayed unresolved for years.
Background and training
I trained as a psychologist and trauma therapist in Ukraine — a degree in practical psychology, followed by certified training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and advanced training in EMDR. Alongside these, I’ve trained in somatic work, clinical hypnosis, and several other trauma-focused approaches. I’m a member of Ukraine’s National Psychological Association.
I’ve been in private practice since 2022, work under regular supervision, and have many years of my own personal work behind me — for me, an essential part of doing this well.
